We are committed to providing the best possible orthodontic care in a comfortable and safe environment. We will strive to maintain an atmosphere of individualized care, which focuses on the unique goals and needs of each and every patient.

Our Team

Our clinical staff have advanced orthodontic certification as recognized by the College of Alberta Dental Assistants. Our team is caring and personable and has advanced orthodontic training that enables them to skillfully and knowledgeably carry out specific clinical procedures under supervision of Dr. Williamson. We strongly believe in bringing the most current information to our practice and routinely exceed mandatory continuing education requirements. We are excited by new developments in our field and strive to encounter these at every opportunity. We, however, are wary of many of the 'fads', which appear regularly. We do not practice techniques that are not supported by evidence-based science.

Appointment Policy

Most people seeking orthodontic treatment have important obligations during the day, whether for work or school. During active orthodontic treatment, the patient is seen every five to six weeks, and occasionally, these appointments may conflict with work or school. We will strive to work with you, as much as possible, around these major commitments.

Punctuality

We have put much time and effort into designing our scheduling system. Ultimately, however, the success of such a system relies heavily upon our patients. For this reason, it is vital that all patients be punctual for their appointments. When patients show up on time, we are better equipped to devote plenty of time to conducting the necessary treatments, providing more information about treatment, and answering patient questions.

Rescheduling Appointments

Because the schedule is carefully constructed, your late arrival or missed visit can pose a problem. In fairness to the other scheduled patients, we won’t try to jam you into the schedule, but we will likely have to reschedule you instead. While you will be welcome to wait for another opening in the schedule, we cannot guarantee that one will become available until the end of the day. Should we have to reschedule a before or after-school appointment, it will need to be rescheduled during school / work hours. It is strongly discouraged that patients delay a rescheduled appointment for a month or longer in order to get another before or after-school appointment, as this can adversely affect treatment progress.

Long Appointments

While only a handful of long appointments will be required during active orthodontic treatment, such appointments will have to be scheduled during school or work hours, as these appointments will entail more lengthy procedures.

Short Appointments

The majority of appointments scheduled during treatment will generally be of shorter duration. During your treatment there will be times when the adjustments can be carried out quickly, in spite of the fact that they may be very technical. We have dedicated much thought into designing treatment methods that will cause our patients minimal inconvenience. As a result, such shorter appointments allow for flexible scheduling and can be set up early in the morning, after school (starting at 2:00 p.m.), or during school hours.

Appliance Breakage and Wire Pokes

Accidents do happen, even with the best orthodontists, staff, and patients. Fortunately, most orthodontic “emergencies” are not critical. Our schedule is set up to allow for time to deal with extra visits, but PLEASE call us first and we will find a time suitable for all concerned. Don’t just show up as our policy is that we will not inconvenience regularly scheduled patients to deal with an extra visit, so you might have to wait. The worst time is first thing in the morning for we are always fully scheduled at that time with patients who wish to be seen before work or school.
